OPPO might upgrade to Samsung’s camera sensor for next flagship phone

The use of Samsung's 200MP camera sensors is increasing among high-end smartphones, especially for telephoto cameras. Currently, OPPO uses Sony's 50MP cameras on its flagship phones, but it might upgrade to Samsung's 200MP camera sensor for its next flagship phone series, the Find X9.

OPPO Find X9 could use Samsung's 200MP camera sensor

The OPPO Find X9 series will reportedly use a 200MP camera sensor for the telephoto camera, going with the trend of using ultra-high-resolution sensors for zooming in. While it hasn't been confirmed that it is a Samsung sensor, only Samsung makes 200MP camera sensors right now. Moreover, it is likely that OPPO will use an ISOCELL HP9 sensor in its next flagship phone.

The ISOCELL HP9 is a bigger and higher resolution sensor compared to the 50MP Sony sensor used in the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. The ISOCELL HP9 is a 200MP sensor with 1/1.4-inch sensor size, and OPO . So, it should theoretically offer more details and a longer zoom range with in-sensor crop. OPPO could pair it with a 6x optical zoom lens to offer up to 10x lossless zoom with better image quality than the OPPO Find X7 Ultra or the OPPO Find X8 Pro.

A few days ago, OPPO unveiled its Lumio image processing engine, which uses hardware and software-level innovations to bring improved image and video quality. This new processing engine will debut with the OPPO Find X8s and will likely be used in the Find X9 series, too. The phone will debut in the third or fourth quarter of 2025.

Vivo is already using the ISOCELL HP9 sensor in its latest flagship phone. Xiaomi has also used it in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. And OPPO is now going to use it. We hope Samsung uses its own 200MP sensor in its own smartphones for telephoto cameras next year.
